After a four-month-long refurbishment period of its public areas, the Embassy Suites by Hilton, Los Angeles-Downey has re-opened. The $5m investment has seen a complete refurbishment of the lobby, atrium, restaurant and lounge, meeting rooms, business and fitness centres and pool area.
One key area of investment was transforming the lobby and atrium into a reat-room concept which will provide guests with a comfortable, tech-friendly place to work or relax outside of their guestroom. As the birthplace of the Apollo space program was in Downey, the new design evokes the history of aerospace and the theme runs throughout the lobby and atrium, including the accent chandeliers, constellation-inspired wall door behind the front desk and a new fountain in the atrium.
"The Great-room concept has proven to be a success with our hotel guests who want a place to hang out, conduct interviews, meet friends or simply enjoy a casual dinner," said Maurice Casaus, general manager of Embassy Suites Los Angeles-Downey. "Our open space with special design elements paying homage to Downey's prominent aerospace legacy has been a tremendous success with both our hotel guests and local patrons."
The 219-Embassy Suites by Hilton, Los Angeles-Downey offers two-room suites with a separate living area, two flat-screen HD televisions and wet bar fitted with a microwave, mini-fridge and a selection of gourmet coffee and teas. The hotel also offers complimentary Wi-Fi throughout all guest rooms and public areas.
Other amenities include a heated indoor pool, fitness centre, 24-hour business centre and more than 6,000 sq. ft. of meeting space including seven meeting rooms. Brickstones Grill offers a contemporary experience that seamlessly transitions made-to-order breakfast to a-la-carte for lunch or dinner in its sophisticated and contemporary open design kitchen. A portion of the existing restaurant space has been converted to flexible multi-use space to accommodate group meals and social functions with access to an outdoor patio.
