Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants revealed plans yesterday to open its third Texas hotel in Houston at the end of 2022. The San Francisco-based company is partnering with Australian real estate developer Caydon to open the hotel within Laneways, Caydon's planned mixed-use development
Kimpton’s global SVP of design Ave Bradley will lead the hotel and restaurant design alongside architecture group The Preston Partnership. The property is expected to include 204 guestrooms, a signature restaurant, a café, a rooftop pool and bar, and more than 14,000 square feet of indoor-outdoor meeting space.
The hotel will join two other Kimpton hotels in Texas: the Kimpton Hotel Van Zandt in Austin and the Kimpton Pittman Hotel in Dallas, which is slated to open next summer.
“Houston is the ideal place to expand our Texas footprint,” said Kimpton CEO Mike DeFrino. "Midtown is quickly solidifying its place as the heart of the city, and its diverse cosmopolitan vibe fits perfectly with Kimpton’s brand of hospitality.”
Slated to break ground in early 2020, Laneways marks Caydon’s first development project in the United States. The 2.5 million-square-foot development is expected to span three city blocks and feature a high-rise residential tower, ground-floor retail, public outdoor spaces and walkable laneways lined with shops, bars, coffee houses and art galleries. The company’s in-house team, Caydon Architecture and Design, will curate Laneways' conceptual design.
Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants operates more than 60 hotels and 80 restaurants, bars and lounges in the U.S., Europe, Caribbean and Greater China.
