With interiors designed by Michael Fiebrich Design, the Presidential Suite of Conrad Manila is this year’s winner for the Hotel Suite Asia Pacific category in the 2019 International Hotel & Property Awards organized by UK-based interior design magazine, design et al.
It is the only property in the Philippines and Southeast Asia recognized by the body whose “aim is to commend design, recognize talent, create opportunities and quite simply to offer inspiration.”
Conrad Manila’s Presidential Suite is recognized how its “polished modernity and soft glamour marry beautifully in this exclusive Penthouse Suite, inspired by the iconic, nautical-inspired architecture of the Hotel and the vistas over Manila Bay.”
Further, it notes the “sweeping lines and flowing forms expressed in both the interior architecture as well as the layout, gently guide the eye toward the expansive terrace and panoramic ocean views, ensuring continuity from the indoor spaces to the outdoor. Executed in glossy figured sycamore, lacquer and nickel combined with embossed leather and silk wall panels, the space provides the feeling of being aboard a sumptuous superyacht.”
The award-giving body says “Michael Fiebrich Design’s initial concepts and design directions drove all aspects of the design from the nautical inspired architecture to the streamlined details, flowing layouts and the colour and material palette driven by the ocean vistas. The artwork collection was carefully commissioned by Filipino artists, including dramatic sculptures by Sam Penaso, to support the suite colour palette and bring a regional touch to the glamorous interior.”
In its website, The International Hotel & Property Awards explains that the winners are not chosen by a panel, but shortlisted entries are presented online instead, and voting is open to industry professionals as well as design et al readers, clients and customers.
The unique part part of the voting system, publisher Joanne Beedles says is that the votes have to be cast in every single category, not just the voters’ own projects, giving all shortlisted projects maximum publicity from international industry professionals.
